People Management
In order to meet its growth, quality, and technological objectives, Embraer intends to develop and maintain outstanding professionals in all of its fields of activity.
During the past five years Embraer invested more than US$ 100 million in education, sponsorships, and projects such as the Colégio Engenheiro Juarez Wanderley high school, which in 2005 graduated its second class, thus totaling the training of roughly 400 young people qualified to go on to higher education. This second class of 201 students had a 95% approval rate in the country’s public and private university entrance examinations, exceeding the 82% approval rate achieved by the first class. Moreover, to train and better qualify its engineers, the company created in 2001 an Engineering Specialization Program with yearly investments of approximately R$ 3.6 million. In 2005, 79 new specialized engineers graduated in a variety of aircraft project disciplines, totaling 540 engineers graduated since the introduction of the program.
In addition to sponsoring a number of educational and social initiatives, the Instituto Embraer de Educação e Pesquisa created the Citizenship Portal, an electronic tool that enables Company employees involved in voluntary social work to communicate efficiently with peers and the community. The creation of Citizenship Portal encourages the culture of voluntary social work and serves as a vehicle for promoting initiatives by Instituto Embraer, besides encouraging employees to donate a small portion of their time, work, and talent to meet the community’s basic needs.
Instituto Embraer´s projects are intended to develop and support its employees as well as community members around its industrial facilities. Below is a list of programs that are currently sponsored by the institute, with more details found in the Social Report.
